Evaluating talent—especially leadership talent—is fraught with vague ideas and lack of agreement about what leadership "potential" is.

A leader may possess the skills to engage and mobilise people when times are good. But, if their perfectionistic derailer rears its ugly head, they are more likely to micromanage than mobilise.

Authenticity is one of the most important qualities a leader can possess. In the modern world, probably even more so. Millennials expect even greater transparency than the generations before them - partly driven by the rise of social media and that people can spot a fake at 100 yards.

Is the world really more volatile, more uncertain, more complex, and more ambiguous that ever before? If so, what’s different now? Two things: technology and velocity. Both totally intertwined.
